What if Jesus wasn't born.
No, really...stop and think what this world would be like without Him.
For starters, think about Christmas morning. Well, there wouldn't be any Christmas; no carols describing the Holy Night, no Christmas trees or lights or family celebrations and traditions. No Christ to give us comfort, joy or peace. There'd be no church buildings with their spires pointing to heaven. No gatherings to celebrate all He has done. No books ever written about the Savior or lives changed because of His Spirit. Two would not become one at weddings and there would be no hope for those who pass away - no message of consolation, no word of a glorious resurrection, no open heaven...just "dust to dust, ashes to ashes".
The Bible would end at Malachi and there would be no gospel and no promise of hope and salvation. No miracles. No refuge in the storm. Everyone would be selfish and greedy because there'd be no reason to lay your own life down for the sake of others. There would be no peace on earth or goodwill towards men. No light to bring into the darkness. No hope. No Resurrection Day with all its rich significance. No strength for the weak. No healing of sickness or deliverance from demonic oppression. Think about a world without Jesus. It brings tears to my eyes and I find myself holding my breath.
But then...deep down in my soul, I find myself singing, "O come all ye faithful. Joyful and triumphant. O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold Him. Born the King of angels. O come let us adore Him....O come let us adore Him...O come let us adore Him. Christ the Lord.
Tears well up in my eyes because it IS written, "Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which is for ALL PEOPLE, for unto you this day is born, in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."
Thank You Father!!!! THANK YOU!! for giving us your Son and leaving Your Spirit 'til the work on earth is done.
So rejoice brothers and sisters!!!! And may our hearts go out to the people who ARE living without Him.
